Construction Inspector (Underground Utility/Water Transmission Main)

Northern Cook County, IL

We have a need for a Construction Inspector for one year in northern Cook County, Illinois. The Construction Inspector is responsible for:

  • Monitoring, inspecting, and documenting underground utility/water transmission main construction
  • Performing on-site observations of the progress and quality of the work performed by various disciplines to ensure adherence to construction documents
  • Providing good communication on project progress, conditions, and issues
  • Maintaining professional relationships with site personnel and other stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Experience in underground utility and water transmission main/pipeline inspection
  • Ability to read and interpret pipeline construction drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of and adherence to job site safety rules
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Capability of working at the project site for the duration of the project, approx. one year
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Engineering/construction associate’s degree, craft apprenticeship, or equivalent preferred

Water/Wastewater Engineer

While we are not currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer, we encourage interested, qualified individuals to submit their resumes for future consideration. This role is responsible for:

  • Designing water/wastewater management projects for municipalities and a wide variety of industries, including meat and poultry, pulp and paper, dairy, and  beverage
  • Participating in projects from beginning to end, including planning, design and construction
  • Communicating with clients throughout the project process in a clear, logical fashion
  • Attending project review meetings and working within our multi-discipline approach to execute reports, plans, and specifications

Qualifications

  • MS in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on water/wastewater treatment
  • Related co-op/intern work experience highly preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in technical writing
  • Analytical skills, including knowledge of engineering economic analysis
  • EIT certification, or willingness to obtain as soon as possible
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • AutoCAD experience a plus
